AI Engineer ENG

Would you like to innovate by automating business processes using the latest developments in the AI domain? Do you enjoy diverse work, collaborating with an international team from Groningen? Do you thrive on creativity and thinking outside the box to develop AI software?

What will you do?

You’ll develop, test, and implement your creative ideas. You’ll understand client needs, and contribute to designing, building, implementing, and managing high-quality AI solutions.
Of course, you won’t be doing this alone. You’ll be part of a supportive and experienced team.

Also, you will perform “Quick Scans” of our clients’ business processes, analyzing how to enhance their efficiency using AI solutions. This involves conducting interviews, observing workflows, and documenting findings in a Runbook.

This dynamic role combines IT consulting and software development. You’ll leverage your technical expertise, platform knowledge, and development experience to make a tangible difference for our clients.

Who are you?

You’re a developer seeking an adventure with an innovative startup. While formal qualifications are welcome, what matters most is your mindset, motivation, and passion for software development and AI.

Must-haves for this role:

  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written;
  • At least around 2 to 4 years of experience in software engineering;
  • Residence in the northern Netherlands.

You also have knowledge and experience with:

  • Python;
  • Agile work methods (e.g., Scrum).

Bonus points if you have experience with:

  • Developing AI solutions;
  • JavaScript (in the broadest sense);
  • Software development in a DevOps environment;
  • Speaking and writing Dutch.

What does the team look like?

Our team’s energy and drive are contagious and play a key role in achieving success.

You’ll join the development team, which analyzes client processes to identify repetitive tasks and automate them through high-quality AI software. The development team currently consists of 12 colleagues: 3 data engineers and 9 AI engineers. Nexler as a whole has 16 team members and ambitious growth plans.

You’ll also be part of our “architecture team,” which monitors technological developments, advises on architecture, and supports colleagues throughout Nexler.

What do we offer?

Together, we’re building the Nexler of tomorrow. With our diverse client portfolio, you’ll create meaningful impact by automating repetitive tasks so our clients can focus on what truly matters.

Compensation and benefits:

  • A salary between €3,500 and €5,000 per month, depending on your experience and background, plus a flexible mobility budget.
  • Ideally, a full-time position (40 hours). Part-time (32 or 36 hours) is negotiable.
  • 8.33% of your annual salary as vacation pay.
  • A team bonus system, sharing the rewards of our successes.
  • Flexible hours – whether you prefer starting at 6:00 AM or 9:00 AM, it’s up to you! We trust you to balance work and personal life.

Secondary benefits:

  • A robust pension plan with Nexler covering two-thirds of the monthly premium.
  • €25 monthly allowance for expenses like home internet or meals on the go.
  • A laptop, phone allowance, and a budget for a device of your choice.
  • Training and development opportunities, including AI-related courses and certifications.
  • Support for hybrid working, offering flexibility to work from home, the office, or client sites.
  • 25 vacation days (based on a 40-hour workweek).
  • Fun team outings and regular social events.
